Live online workshop Β· Thursday 29 October

Strong Bones in Perimenopause and Beyond

One in three women over 50 will break a bone because of osteoporosis. Almost none of us were taught what is happening to our bones, or when. One evening with a GP and a medical imaging technologist, so you understand your bones and what you can do about them.

Thursday 29 October 2026, 7:15pm to 8:45pm NZ time (5:15pm Sydney and Melbourne). Live on Zoom with Dr Taisia Cech and Lisa Bates.

What happens to your bones after 40, and what you can do about it

Bone loss is one of the quietest changes of perimenopause. There are no symptoms. Oestrogen has been protecting your skeleton for decades, and as it falls, the cells that break down bone start to outpace the cells that build it. The first years around menopause are the window where that matters most.

In this live workshop you'll learn:

  • What happens to your bones through perimenopause and after, and why this window matters
  • What a DEXA scan is, who should have one, and how to read your own results (with Lisa)
  • The medical treatments for low bone density, explained plainly, with the evidence behind them (with Taisia)
  • Where HRT fits in protecting bone
  • What you can start doing this week: the food, movement and everyday habits that support your bones

Then live Q&A with both of us. Bring your questions, and your scan results if you have them.

Your speakers

Lisa Bates, Medical Imaging Technologist and founder of Form Imaging

Lisa Bates

Lisa is a Medical Imaging Technologist with over 30 years of experience and the founder of Form Imaging, which she established nearly nine years ago. Lisa has a special interest in bone health and osteoporosis prevention, and works closely with patients to improve awareness of the importance of bone density testing. Bone health is often overlooked, yet healthy bones are essential for maintaining independence, mobility, and quality of life as we age. Through DXA scanning, education, and early detection, Lisa is committed to helping people take proactive steps to protect their bone health and reduce their future fracture risk.

Dr Taisia Cech, GP and women's health doctor

Dr Taisia Cech

Taisia is a New Zealand GP and women's health doctor with a perimenopause clinic in Wānaka. She holds a dual fellowship in General Practice and Lifestyle Medicine, a Certificate in Women's Health, and is a member of the Australasian and International Menopause Societies. Perimenopause and women's health are the heart of her clinical work, and she sits with women in this chapter every clinic day. Her approach brings the hormones, the lifestyle medicine and the metabolic side together, because sleep, food, muscle and hormones are one system rather than four separate problems. She is the founder of The Healthstyle Doctor and The Morning Room, her perimenopause membership, and a mum of three.

This workshop, and everything inside The Morning Room, is general education from a registered doctor and a medical imaging technologist, not personalised medical advice. Please talk with your own doctor before starting, stopping or changing any treatment. The Morning Room renews monthly at $21 until you cancel, and you can cancel any time from your account settings. Tickets are sold through Humanitix, and refunds are available up to one day before the event. Full membership terms, including the first-month guarantee, are on the terms page.
